Producing regular article content proved to be too ambitious for our unpaid staff. With the relaunch of sflindyhop.com, we are focusing on providing useful information with a minimum of maintennance overhead, such as the self-managed calendar, and externally managed photo galleries. We'll be working on posting an archive of past articles, but will not be producing new content.
Around May 2005, our original, free hosting provider upgraded their webservers in a way that would have required an extensive software rewrite of the sflindyhop.com website. Since major work of some sort was inevitable, we instead chose to put the effort into migrating the website to our own independently operated server, where we could continue using much of our existing codebase and define our own upgrade timetable.
It's taken a while, but the downtime was spent learning to configure a webserver, recreating the original server environment on the new server, fixing things that broke during the transition, and finally, adding a host of new feaures to the site and remove those which were too hard to support.
